About Us

Who's Ya Doggy is a public advertising community for pedigree, rescue and 'everyday' dogs - all in one spot!  Dogs and only dogs, organized neatly by size and locality, the way that the public prefer to search for puppies and breeders...

In fact, Who's Ya Doggy was 'whelped' following our own extensive puppy research, because we could find no public 'for sale' site which was clear, easy to use, and displayed the full spectrum of pet dog options, including purebreds.  Instead...

  • If we weren't fussy we could scan the free classifieds for 'everyday' dogs...

  • If we wanted a rescue dog we had to locate 40+ shelter sites, and search each category, of each site, every day...

  • If we wanted a nice pedigree then we really had to be resourceful, because the best purebred breeders have historically been cloistered out of public view...

A lot of work!  Enough to send far too many people running to a pet store!  :(

Now with Who's Ya Doggy the public now know where to come to browse for the pet, show and working dogs that they are looking for, all in one place.  It's a much more effective forum for reputable breeders to display puppy notices too, where you can stand out from the crowd and let ordinary people see the superior options available to them as companion animals.

Dogs are arranged by size rather than groups such as Toys, Terriers, Gundogs, Hounds, Working, Utility and Non-sporting, simply because we have found that the public search that way!  Whilst breeders are familiar with those terms, non-specialists simply have one or two breeds in mind, of similar size, and start looking.  So Who's Ya Doggy has made it easy for them.

You can post and search advertisements for dog services, products and events too.

* Be aware that we do not accept listings from known puppy mills/puppy farms or other mass production breeders or agents.  Please notify Who's Ya Doggy if you see a listing by a breeding establishment which you know to be a puppy mill, or which includes other inappropriate content.  We will investigate and remove such ads where appropriate.

Puppy / Breeder Choosing Tips

Modern dogs are at risk of a number of serious health complaints which are expensive and distressing to treat.  Many of these are mostly genetic and therefore to a fair degree avoidable, provided that the breeder is familiar with them and tests their animals before breeding. Note that:

  • Most registered pedigree breeders will test for hereditary defects as a matter of course when following their canine association ethical guidelines.  Nevertheless, be aware that being 'registered' does not automatically mean that a breeder will take superior care of their animals' health or psychological wellbeing - it just makes it much more likely.  A health guarantee/warranty against genetic defects of at least 12 months should be provided.  You can identify registered breeders by the 'Breeder Registration' field in their ads.

  • Pedigree or mixed-breed (hybrid) puppies which are bred casually (or accidentally) are also at risk of similar hereditary conditions to varying degrees, although provided that they come from health-tested parents then the risks are similar to buying a 'proper' pedigree.  However, it is still uncommon for such puppies to be from health-tested parents, or for buyers to receive a proper health guarantee, so take special care if buying a casually bred dog.  Again, whilst informal breeding does not automatically mean that a breeder lacks any care or attention to the health or wellbeing of their animals, it does make it somewhat more likely that there could be shortfalls in this regard.

  • Rescue dogs are perhaps the most varied.  Certainly there is a great need for loving homes for abandoned dogs, so please consider this option when you are searching.  Again, getting a dog from a shelter does not automatically mean that he/she will have serious health or behavioral problems, but it does raise the probability.  Pay careful heed to the advice that rescue personnel give you about any particular animal.
